I'm no fan of the non-activist hippie of generations past, but I am liking the reincarnation of them post Anni Defranco... ugh. Basically they've one sans dredlocks as well as free-wheeling attitude. I mean, those types exist, but are a vast minority.

For example, I believe Akron/Family, in the liner notes and artwork of their latest release, Love Is Simple, are in fact wearing a very similar get-up as Architecture in Helsinki. The similarities are frightening. Maybe they're friends. Maybe they're enemies. Maybe every band that plays folk music should start to dress the way they want to dress, which is apparently overt.
But, you know, that's just, like, my opinion man. Truth be told, I'd much rather hippies dress in some avante guard way than just simply a phish shirt, baggy home-made corduroys, hemp necklace, shaggy (scooby-doo) goatee, pierced left nostril, and/or raggedy patchwork sack, which in all cases reeks of that patchouli stink. I like these guys better. There's obviously some sense of humor going on. Not to mention the forethought that has to go into outfits of these sort.
Now before you go hog-wile on me for thumping on you or your best friends attempts at "just being me, man", save it. I think weed dealing lump wastes-of-spaces have every right to be around, just don't make music. Or, make me listen to your rasta inspired poetry. But, if you insist, at least make it fun to look at.
In other news, here are two groups I was let in on by the dood at Gorilla vs Bear: White Hinterland and High Places. I gotta say, they both is damn delicious. So, I've placed a link for White Hinterlands "Dreaming of the Plum Trees" and Higher Places "New Grace".
How can you lose, White Hinterland sounding like a lost episode of H.R. Puff'n'Stuff and Higher Places sounding like white women sings Sergio Mendes
